Financial statements, closing the year

Last three months went like the others:
we bought food, clothes, paid bills...
But now I have the whole year information of where all our money have gone.

Preservation time

It is preservation time.
It has been a while already:
it started when blueberries were ripen in the woods.
And it will go on until apples and potatoes are harvest.
This year I have been making jam.
A lot of jam...

Dinners in March

Dinners in March were mostly very conventional.
The only exception was Vernal equinox,
- and even that was quite simple.

March: money gone, in where it was spent?

March was long.
And I knew already before counting,
we had spent a lot.
Way too much.
There is three sections were lower than earlier:
Ready meals, gas and treats.

and dinners in February...

It is clear,
that I cook too much.
Or maybe I just am wise enough to cook for two days at once?
So or not,
we have been eaten leftovers quite often again...

What was for dinner?

In December I started to write down,

what we had for dinner each day.
I went on with that on January.

I am hoping that I would be able to use  these lists,
when I will make a meal plan in future.

Pork and sauce in Slow Cooker

The price of electricity is all the time an issue in our house.
As our main heating is electric,
specially during the winter our electric bills are enormous,
no matter what we do or how much we use wood and fireplace.
No matter that we cut our consumption,
price keeps going up.
So we are looking for even slightest way to save electric.

Apple,apples...

I have an apple elbow.
I think it is official called epicondylitis lateralis humeri.
But because I know it is caused by apples,
I call it apple elbow.

It is nice to have apples of our own,
but I have a huge problem with them.
It is simple.
There is way too much of them.

Autumnal equinox

Today has been really cold.
Wind. Rain.Wind.
I had planned to do some apples in oven,
but it was so cold,
that I couldn't spent time out looking for beautiful apples.
I just took first ones,
that were closest to house
and run back in.
And so kids had something different on their plates.

Apple puree and soup

We will have a lot of apples.
I guess I have note that earlier already.
But we will.
Although they seems to be small.
I can bet, I am sick of them before I have got rid of them all...
So, after today's great start with breaking perfume
on to bathroom floor,
I started first round with apple puree.

Apple pie

This wasn't best morning I have had.
It rained.

Roudari hasn't shown himself for two days.
I put Pepi out to terrace
and opened front door to take my rain boots.
Rokkari was coming in.

Gooseberry jam

I have already eaten ALL yellow gooseberries
-and actually most of reds, too.
But there was few left,
and even though we are not great jam-eater,
I decided to do a tiny dose of gooseberry jam.

Holiday by the hearth

After burning myself badly few years ago during steaming juice,
I have taken at least part of my holidays
during the harvest season.
Just to make sure I am not too tired,
and too busy to be careless.

So I'll spend a lot of time in kitchen becoming weeks.
Not fancy, not special
- just ordinary kitchen work.
Like freezing carrots and peas.

At International Market

There was International Market in town next to us.
We visited there, too, like we did last year.
Something old, something new...
English porcelain...

Dried oregano

I use a lot of oregano in kitchen.
So I was almost overjoyed,
when I got a division of seedling from the lady next door few years ago.
And this particular one was part of her mother's plant.
So it has seen hard winters, hot and dry summers
all the possible weathers and survived.

Cherry liqueur and Mini-Cherries

Our older cherry-tree go bugs few years ago,
and died.
It was sad,
because it bloomed nice,
and was beautiful,
when it was full of cherries.
Not for us, though:
if I wasn't fast enough,
thrushes ate them all...

Summer holiday - where were the summer?

During this week I have spent a part of my summer holiday.
Wind has blown from Arctic Ocean.
It has rained.
There has been hails.
There has been sleet.

Cooking night

I am spending my evening in kitchen.
Just having a little brake between cooking now.
Meat-pasta casseroles are almost ready.
There will be four of them:

For four I use:
800 g pasta (cooked in broth)
700 g meat (minced and fried)
1 tbs dried onion
4 eggs and 2 ts salt
mixed in
1,5 l milk

Only problem is,
that my oven is quite small,
and it can handle only two at the time.

Tomorrow I will be in racetrack.
Serving coffee and juice.
Heating lunch in micro.
Trying to keep my self in one piece.

I will be joining today  #theultimateparty

Day like pancake

The electric company has made network improvement works two days.
So there has not been electric during afternoon and early evening.

My hubby wasn't very delighted to get salad for dinner.

My laundry hill has grown a mountain.

I found over half liter greasy milk, which was just going old.

So I made pancake:

3 eggs
3 tbs sugar
1 ts salt
about ½ liter milk
2 dl flour

Mix things and let it be half an hour.
Pour into pan and put in oven.
Bake  in good heat until brown.

Eat with jam.

No dinner, just desert.
But we have electric on.
