Pork and sauce in Slow Cooker

The price of electricity is all the time an issue in our house.
As our main heating is electric,
specially during the winter our electric bills are enormous,
no matter what we do or how much we use wood and fireplace.
No matter that we cut our consumption,
price keeps going up.
So we are looking for even slightest way to save electric.

Corner closet

Sigh.
Cornet closet.
Continuous headache.
I have put it in order tens and tens times.
And it is always a huge mess.
Like this.

Tupperware -a headache...

My Tupperware is nowadays my headache.

Not that I feel them useless,
but they are annoying me,
'cause they are all the time in mess.

And during this hectic week I have got enough other things taking my energy.

After reading Hilda's tips from
http://fromoverwhelmedtoorganized.blogspot.ca/2014/03/the-secret-for-organizing-food-storage.html
I decided I have to be rude.

And I did - as rude as I could:

There is a bit more room:

I hope it is enough.

More cupboards to organize...

I have two other small cupboards
for all dry things opposite to stove.
Under narrow counter.
I have changed order in these several times during last year -
and situation has gone worst.
A mess:

And more mess:

So I went back close to the old system I had.
Ok, it wasn't system,
but it worked better:

Up there is sugar, with one extra bag, then syrup and yeast, salt and soda.
In the middle dried and canned food.
And down extra sugar, pastas and special as powered milk.

In the smaller one there are up crispbreads:

Then comes cereals, muesli and some baking supplies.
And down nowadays rarely used cake supplies.

And I made labels.
As I didn't have sticker paper,
I just printed them on normal paper
- and added with contact plastic:

Slow work and it is still going on.
And I can image they are gone in first wash.
But then I can make new ones ;-)

Oatmeal, rice and others: in order, please!

Between stove and fridge lies my cupboard for porridge flakes and spices.
Needed to clean.
And organize.

I am quite short - ok, really short -
so I can easily reach only first two selves.
Even though our cupboards are lower than normal ones.
That we carried out in our kitchen renovation.

So I took ladders and started to empty things out.
A one self at the time:

At the highest self I use to keep extra packages.
Some are hide behind.

I checked dates and wiped shelves.
And put things back.
Cupboard is so small, there cannot hide many forgotten things.
However, I had mustard seeds,
but cannot remember why - I never make mustard by myself.
So good bye for them.

I'll need new labels.
And there was a lot of barley flakes,
so I guess, we will have some porridge during next weeks.

Kitchen renovation - 10 years ago

When we moved in to Halkis on 2000,
the kitchen was in quite bad shape.
I remove all - really all - cabinet doors
and so we lived with very open kitchen for 9 months.

During that time I made a little change: I painted tiles.
They were white with bright yellow square in the middle...
After  9 moths my hubby got tired and made doors:

Of course it would be nice,
if he would clean all the mess on counters and shelves, too.

I wasn't waiting any change for years,
but in 2004 I got whole new kitchen!

During the years I had draw my dream again and again,
but still, when we were in store, I was terrified
if I had metered something wrong.
What if the kitchen will be disaster?

Just two weeks before Christmas old cabins were teared off
and the floor was ripped out:

Men made some plans on the wall
- and there is seen a slight of yellow tiles, too:

Tiles were teared off next:

And the wall:

This was the time I was thinking,
are we totally mad?

A week before Christmas my living-room was looking like this:

pay attention of style of late 90s'
Floor needed to sand and I was worried
if new one won't come in time.
We wanted it without any seams,
so it was coming straight from factory.

New tiles - Villeroy and Boch, I can tell -
the only luxury in here.
Bought in the sale 5 €/square meters.

Electricity were made by professional:

I filled the cupboards as soon they were screwed on walls:

During few days there suddenly happened everything fast.
Cupboards were hanged,
counters (laminate) was laid,
electrician was working here and there:

I was hanging papers in the middle of the night
and this was facing me next morning:

Paper is heavy, plastic covered,
which can be washed with water and brush.
Special adhesive couldn't handle it
- so I finally used glue.

Glass shelves into window corner:

And finally Christmas eve came last two counters and we were ready:

Two hours before my mother and brother came over.
The only change we have made afterwards,
was a place for coffee station:

Those green curtains haven't been hanged into my house ever since.
