Memories of Madona - on the way home, Pärnu

We left Madona in late afternoon.
We chose E22 and E63, Via Baltica, instead of P30.
For driving it was a lot better,
but for landscapes it was more boring.
I had booked a night in Pärnu, Estonia,
so that was our goal.
Dark came quite fast.
We did few stops,
but mostly in gas stations.
So if I saw something interesting,
I had to take photo through car window.

We didn't avoid street maintenance,
and one of them caused a small fright:
it was already dark, it rained,
and lights in our car are not so great,
- to be true, they are lousy -
so we chose to drive by following the lights of semitrailer front of us.
Not a good idea.
After driving few moments,
semitrailer changed lane quickly.
Reason was clear in few seconds:
oncoming traffic in the same lane...
Puuuuff.

When we arrived Adazi,
it felt like home as we have spent there a night twice during the races in Riga.
We had meal in familiar fast food restaurant,
local Hesburger.
Not healthy, but better than only candies and chips...
but these chips were good!

We arrived Pärnu in the middle of the night.
Not straight, of course,
we drove around more than few minutes before finding the right place.
I guess the owner of guesthouse has already thought,
we are not arriving at all.

Owner was a nice man,
guesthouse was small
- and wi-fi was slightly exaggerated:
it was neighbor's and worked only in one spot.
Hilarious.
Kitchen was amazing:
We didn't use it, though.
We slept and left.
We had our morning coffee in the town.
First one was in Cafe XS,
and I believe that milk jar was straight from doll house:

After first cups we walked around the block
- that was our sightseeing round.
But we saw Church of St Catherine the Great Martyr,
so that was great.

And nice park front of it
beautiful old buildings surrounding the square

One cup of coffee wasn't enough,
so we had an other a few blocks away.
Bigger ones.

Coffee shop was in shopping center
and I was able to see insight of escalators very first time in my life
- and I felt it very interesting.
Hubby couldn't quite understand mine and Martian's excitement...

Pärnu is full of old buildings,
build from wood...

and stone.

Hyacinths were blooming.

I was wondering were they grown like mine:
buy for Christmas and put in garden in next spring or fall...

We crossed Pärnu river bridge on early afternoon.
It was time to drive to Tallinn.

  1. Vaikka Pärnu tuntuukin olevan toiselta aikakaudelta, niin siellä on hemmetin siistiä verratuna moniin täkäläisiin kaupunkeihin.

    1. Totta turiset!
